The Power of Rollover Zoom

One of the essential ingredients to retaining customers and cutting down on returns is rollover zoom. With millions of ecommerce sites available, it’s important to be able to set yourself apart from the pack with superior technology and an exceptional customer experience.

I was recently on the hunt for a blue dress for a tradeshow in Vegas. I spent hours combing the internet trying to find the perfect match. Finally, I found a sheath dress that I loved from a well-known designer. I overnighted the purchase (leave it to me to leave these things to the last possible minute) and was disappointed when I pulled the dress out of the box and tried it on. The dress had a major seam down the middle from the neckline to the end of the dress. Why didn’t I see that seam? Immediately I repacked it and sent it back. Had I known of the seam, I wouldn’t have ordered the dress in the first place, saving myself a lot of money, time and stress and saving the business the hassle of handling a return. More important than this issue is the loss of my future business. Because I couldn’t see all the details of the dress, I no longer trust their website. I won’t be buying direct from them again and I won’t recommend their site to my friends or family.

My advice – always make sure you have this functionality available on your site. Expose all aspects of your items because consumers are getting more savvy with their online purchases. Research shows that people, especially millennials, trust word of mouth recommendations more than any other source and they spend a lot of time online shopping, but more on that another time…
